A) Objective
1. What is the objective of Learn to Swim@JC Project?
  • To provide participants with a free 20-lesson swimming course (20 hours in total), so they will be able to swim 15-25 meters unaided
  • To help participants learn swimming at an early age as an essential survival skill and cultivate their positive attitude, confidence and social skills
  • To provide equal opportunity for children from low-income families to learn swimming
2. How many intakes do Learn to Swim@JC have?
  • It will be held in three intakes and will be held from October 2022 to April 2024.
3. When will the swimming classes be held?

4. What is the quota limit for Learn to Swim@JC?
  • There are 2,100 quotas for the 2023 Winter Intake. Quotas for future intakes will be announced in due course.
  • In case of over-subscription, quotas will be allocated by drawing lots. Priority in the drawing lots will be given to “Comprehensive Social Security Assistance” (“CSSA”) and “School Textbook Assistance Scheme” (“TA”) recipients;
  • If quotas are still available after allocation to the above applicants with priority admission, the remaining quotas will be allocated by drawing lots.
B) Eligibility
1. What are the eligibilities for Learn to Swim@JC?
  • Junior primary students who do not know how to swim or are not able to swim for 15 meters unaided.
  • 2023 Winter Intake: Born in 2016 and have never participated in the Project.

C) Application Procedures
1. How do I apply for Learn to Swim@JC?

If you submit the application form in person or by post, please submit the completed application form together with copies of relevant documents to the Office of Learn to Swim@JC.

2. When does the application start and finish?
  • 2023 Winter Intake

      • The online application period is from 10:00am on 8 June 2023 (Thursday) to 11:59pm on 4 July 2023 (Tuesday);
      • The system for online application will cease to operate after 12:00am on 5 July 2023 (Wednesday).
    • In person
      • The application period is from 10:00am on 8 June 2023 (Thursday) to 5:00pm on 4 July 2023 (Tuesday);
      • Office Hour: Monday to Friday (except Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays), 10:00am to 12:00 noon and 1:00pm to 5:00pm.
    • By post
      • The application period is from 8 June 2023 (Thursday) to 4 July 2023 (Tuesday).;
      • According to postmark date (which is 4 July 2023 (Tuesday).)
  • The application for 2024 Summer Intake will be announced in due course.
3. What documents will need to be submitted when applying?
  • One recent colour photo, size: 40mm(W) x 50mm(H), for photo specifications please click HERE
    • Taken with full face without headwear with plain background
  •  The photocopy of Birth Certificates
    • HKID Card / HK Birth Certificate / Passport / other Birth Certificate;
    • The document must clearly indicate birth year of the participant as 2016
  • (If applicable, for CSSA recipients)
    • Submit the photocopy of the “Certificate of CSSA Recipients (for Medical Waivers)” issued by the Social Welfare Department, for sample specifications please click HERE
    • Document should show that the validity period of receiving CSSA falls on 4 July 2023 or thereafter
  • (If applicable, for TA Full-grant or TA Half-grant recipients)
    • Submit the photocopy of the “Household Application for Student Financial Assistance Schemes for the
      2022/23 school year – Notification of Result” issued by the Student Finance Office, for sample
      specifications please click HERE
    • Document should show that the approved assistance period is 2022/23 academic year.
4. What are the points for attention when uploading the required documents?
  • Please upload the required supporting documents by scanning or taking the front vertical shot of such documents. To speed up the vetting processing, the scanned copies or photos must clearly display the text content.
  • Document format:

  • Document size:
    • Below 1MB.
  • Please note that the application will not be processed if there is any missing of the required document.
6. How do I know if Learn to Swim@JC has received my application?
  • An acknowledgement email will be sent to your registered email address within 5 working days after your application is received. (Please check your SPAM and junk mail as well). If you do not receive the email within the stipulated time frame, please contact us at (852) 2335 0662 immediately.
  • To ensure that you will receive all correspondence, please provide a valid email address when you submit the application.
7. How are the quota be allocated?

8. When will the results of admission be announced?
  • The results of admission of 2023 Winter Intake will be announced at 10:00am on 13 July 2023 (Thursday) on the website of Learn to Swim@JC.
  • All applicants may log into the website of Learn to Swim@JC (or please click HERE), input your Application Number, English name and registered phone number to check the result.
  • Learn to Swim@JC will also notify all eligible applicants of their status (successful, unsuccessful or on waiting list) via email and SMS. Please also check the junk/ spam mailbox.
  • To ensure that you will receive all correspondence, please provide a valid email address and Hong Kong mobile phone number when you submit the application.
9. Points to note on application
  • Applicants should be aware of their health condition and consider whether it is suitable for them to participate in Learn to Swim@JC. In any case of doubt, please consult a doctor prior to the enrolment of Learn to Swim@JC.
  • Each applicant can only submit one application (including online, by post and in-person application).
  • Each eligible participant shall only participate in Learn to Swim@JC once. In case of violation, duplicate applications will be rejected or cancelled immediately without prior notice.
  • Incomplete application including no signatures or missing photocopy of required documents will not be proceeded.
  • Status of CSSA or TA [Full-grant or Half-grant] recipients WILL NOT be recognized if supporting documents cannot be provided.
    • The application will still be proceeded if all of the other documents of the applicant are duly provided (e.g. Photos and birth certificate); however priority in the drawing lots WILL NOT be given.
  • Please make sure that all mail items bear sufficient postage if you submit the application by post. No underpaid mail items will be accepted and such items will be handled by the Hongkong Post.
  • Participants are required to comply with the anti-pandemic measures and arrangements implemented by Learn to Swim@JC. Changes to existing arrangements may occur in light of new pandemic measures and government directives, the Project reserves the rights to make a final decision. Please refer to the website of Learn to Swim@JC for updates. Thank you for your understanding.
  • Learn to Swim@JC reserves the right to modify any information at any time without notice; and the right of final interpretation, decision and modification of all relevant courses, activities, and public information.
D) Swim Gear
1. What will I receive if I am a successful applicant (“swimmer”) after the results of admission are announced?
  • Swimmers will receive the following after the results of admission are announced:
    • One Set of Swim Gear;
    • Two vouchers; and
    • One Student e-card.
2. What is included in the swim gear?
  • Each swim gear includes the following items:
    • One swimsuit;
    • One swim cap;
    • One pair of goggles; and
    • One waterproof bag.
